A surprise Disney100 honoring Teacher Appreciation Week debuted at Disneyland this week!
Teacher Appreciation Week Cavalcade
Teacher Appreciation Week runs from May 8 to May 12 this year.
Teacher Appreciation Week is of course this week, celebrating our nation’s wonderful educators who help raise the next generation in schools across America. Disneyland Resort chose 100 teachers this year from 39 states to participate in both the cavalcade as well as in a Disney Imagination Campus seminar to help boost the ambitious goals in their classrooms. Nearly 8000 educators applied to participate.
The cavalcade begins with a decorated Omnibus, featuring purple and silver balloons and streamers as well as a banner for the teacher celebration specifically.
Most of the teachers get to walk down the street, waving streamers in their hands.
This is of course followed by Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Pluto, in the same costumes as in the regular Disney100 cavalcade which debuted in January. This time they’re walking instead of on the final float.
Finally we see even more teachers on the finale float, which features more special balloons and a banner on each side to honor the teachers. Mickey Mouse is atop with the Disney100 medallion.
Watch our video of the cavalcade below.
Disney100 Celebration
Across almost all six resorts and on a global scale, Disney is celebrating “100 Years of Wonder.” This celebration is the largest event ever thrown by The Walt Disney Company. The heart of the celebration takes place at Disneyland Resort, as it is “The Place Where it All Began.”
The party kicked off January 27, 2023, and is expected to last through July 2024.
At Walt Disney World, Disney100 will mostly be celebrated at EPCOT with Mickey and Minnie in their new platinum outfits. A new Spectacle of Light will debut on Spaceship Earth, and in late 2023, a new Disney100 nighttime spectacular will replace EPCOT Forever. This show was brought back after the end of Harmonious in early April but has only returned as an interim replacement.
In addition, multiple attractions including Journey of Water, CommuniCore Hall and Plaza, World Celebration Garden, and Dreamers Point featuring the “Dreamer” statue of Walt Disney are all scheduled to open in late 2023 at EPCOT.
During the Disney100 celebration at Disneyland Resort, guests can enjoy Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland and World of Color – ONE at Disney California Adventure. Disneyland has also received a platinum Minnie statue for the occasion.
