We’ve got updated construction progress photos of CommuniCore Hall in EPCOT at Walt Disney World. Let’s take a look at what’s changed.
CommuniCore Hall Construction
At the center of EPCOT in World Celebration, CommuniCore Hall is making its way toward a late 2023 opening. We snapped a few new photos for you from the Monorail to get a great view of the work that’s going on right now.
Construction is in full swing to prepare for a late 2023 opening. Cast Members can be seen on the roof, surrounded by a myriad of construction equipment.
There are many active members of the construction crew on site.
Heavy machinery, trash disposal, and supply vehicles are still present on the scene.
Insulation has begun to be installed on part of the CommuniCore Hall building. We can just see the Mufasa, Sarabi, and Simba topiary for the 2023 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival in the corner. Connections Eatery is separated by a wall in the background.
There is still a lot of work to be done before this space will open to the public.
A cornucopia of construction supplies are piled up around the site. Test Track Presented by Chevrolet is the cylindrical silver building in the back right of the photo.
Here’s a view of the insulation from the opposite side. Steel support beams can be seen around the future CommuniCore Hall. These steel grids provide the base for future wall paneling.
These restrooms are currently closed to the public while the construction site is active.
CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza will be two new venues for guests to enjoy. The last time we checked in during late February, many of these steel support beams were yet constructed.
The CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza will be located on the left in the above picture. The right-hand side contains the Connections Eatery and Creations Shop. The central feature has gardens for viewing, as well as a planned statue of Walt Disney overlooking EPCOT. Take a look at our coverage of the sneak peek of this “Walt the Dreamer” statue at D23 Expo using this link.
CommuniCore Hall Concept Art
Disney recently released two new concept art images for this space in World Celebration.
The image above shows inside CommuniCore Hall. Origami cranes, images of our solar system, and other artwork hangs from the ceiling. It appears to have the same wood ceiling as Creations Shop, with circular lights reminiscent of the original CommuniCore light fixtures.
CommuniCore Hall will also feature an exhibition space that will change with each of the major festivals throughout the year at EPCOT. The building’s architecture was designed by Walt Disney Imagineering to celebrate both the legacy of EPCOT, and the memory of the original CommuniCore buildings. Make sure to check out the concept photo here.
