PHOTOS, REVIEW: Pixar Pier’s Adorable Snowman Opens Early, Lemon Soft Serve Comes to California Adventure

It wasn’t too long ago that we saw the first signs of Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats stand coming to life in Disney California Adventure’s Paradise Pier. Work has continued at an impressive speed and today, May 1, the frozen dessert location opened its shutters to guests.

The line, at one point, was long enough for a cast member to direct those waiting to order to form a line along the wall rather than in front of the stand.

Here’s a look at the menu. The most notable dish is the “It’s Lemon!” non-dairy soft serve. This item is a key ingredient in both of Adorable Snowman’s specialties, the Pixar Pier Frosty Parfait and the “It’s Snow-capped Lemon!” Cone.

I tried both the Pixar Pier Frosty Parfait as well as the “It’s Snow-capped Lemon!” Cone. Of the two, I preferred the former. With the Adorable Snowman’s yellow lemon soft serve ice cream (which honestly was more reminiscent of a sorbet) layered a blue raspberry slushy and topped with a maraschino cherry, the dessert is intended to copy the color scheme of the yellow, blue, and red-colored Luxo Ball. And the effect is achieved – until the slushy portion begins to melt anyway. The flavor combination of the slightly tart lemon with the sweet raspberry worked well. And it was definitely easier to eat that the second item I tried.

The other frosted treat I sampled was the “It’s Snow-capped Lemon!” Cone. The lemon soft serve is piled high in a cake cone and then topped with a drizzle of white chocolate that hardens on the frozen ice cream/sorbet. When I would try to take bites of this one, bits of the white chocolate would break off and take some of the soft serve with it. I lost at least three potential mouthfuls to the cement in my attempt to eat this. Also, I couldn’t really taste the white chocolate, so I don’t think even white chocolate fans will find this one worthwhile.

Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats is now open in Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure.

  1. Darn Disney did people dirty with what they call a “dipped” cone. I’m used to places where they submerge the entire icecream part of the cone into chocolate to create a shell on it.
