As the completion date of Summer 2021 looms closer, the refurbishment of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is showing more and more progress as the days go on. As we reported last month, Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area is currently undergoing its own refurbishment. Rumors swirled of a possible Moana-themed overlay coming to Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area. However, today the construction walls came down, leaving only a green barrier — and no friends from Montunui.

All that remains surrounding Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area is a small green barrier.

Hopes for a Moana-themed splash area seem to be dashed. However, as reported late last year, Moana-themed elements could still be coming to the nearby Lava Pool.

The splash pool remains drained. Disney previously announced on their website that Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area would remain closed through March 2021.

Elsewhere at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, construction continues beyond barriers, fencings, and scrims.

A section of walkway near the parking lot at the resort is blocked off, detouring guests to another path for bus transportation.

Not much has changed since our last update on the pillar outside the Great Ceremonial House.

Work on the new Monorail platform base appears to be coming along nicely as well.

The pillars will all be connected as the platform base on both sides of the Monorail beam.

More pillars are being formed with concrete on this side of the platform.

Rebar can still be seen on the top of the monorail platform on this side, although it likely won’t remain that way for long.
