Walt Disney World is surveying guests about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind queue options. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT currently has no standby queue and requires guests join the virtual queue or purchase Lightning Lane access.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Queue Survey
In a broader survey, Disney is asking guests, “Which of the following statements best describes your preference for riding an attraction such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind?” Read the options below.
– I prefer the virtual queue system, with the understanding that:
- Virtual queue is only available via the MyDisneyExperience app and allows you to join a ‘boarding group’; if your boarding group is called, you’ll receive a designated return window to ride the attraction
- I may not be able to secure a spot in the virtual queue due to limited boarding groups
- I will not have the ability to choose the specific time to ride the attraction
– I prefer the traditional standby queue system, with the understanding that:
- I may have to wait 2+ hours in line
- The majority of the line may be outdoors
– Not interested in riding an attraction like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
This could mean Disney is considering doing away with the virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which has used a virtual queue since it opened almost a year ago. It could also mean Disney is thinking of ways to change the virtual queue system in general.
The demand for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has been lessening. It’s easier for guests to obtain a virtual queue boarding group than it was last year.
Virtual Queue
Guests can join a virtual queue via the My Disney Experience app. When they join, they are assigned a boarding group and told an approximate return time. When the boarding group is called in My Disney Experience, guests can report to the attraction within the provided timeframe to ride it. Guests may need to still wait in a physical queue at the attraction.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opened on May 27, 2022, at EPCOT, replacing Ellen’s Energy Adventure / Universe of Energy. It utilizes the same façade for guests to enter the Wonders of Xandar pavilion. The Guardians of the Galaxy are some of the only Marvel characters Walt Disney World can use due to their contract with Universal and the proximity of Universal Orlando Resort’s Marvel Super Hero Island.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”
“Guardians of the Galaxy” focuses on a group of extraterrestrial criminals on the run who initially team up for just causes when they tangle themselves in a dangerous struggle between Xandar and Kree fanatical Ronan the Accuser.
“Vol. 3” is the long-awaited conclusion to a trilogy that began with 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” A relatively unknown team of superheroes to the general public before this film’s release, the franchise is now one of Marvel’s most popular and critically acclaimed, with the first two films grossing a combined $1.64 billion, as well as scoring 92% and 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, respectively.
The Guardians have also made appearances in “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame,” and “Thor: Love and Thunder” — plus a roughly half-feature-length Holiday Special on Disney+. They’ve spawned a series of video games, and are now featured in two Disney Parks attractions: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT and Mission: Breakout at Disney California Adventure.
James Gunn, doubling as writer and director, has repeatedly expressed his profound desire to wrap the trilogy up with the utmost propriety, calling it “the hardest thing I’ve ever done” in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” hits theaters on May 5, 2023.
