During the holidays each resort has some magnificent decorations for guests to enjoy. While everyone has their favorite resorts, one of the most popular is Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Designed to resemble an old timber lodge, the resort celebrates turn-of-the-century National Parks Service lodges found in the great northwest. And now there’s plenty of beautiful holiday decor around the resort just in time for the season to kick off!

Upon entering, guests are greeted by the soaring six-story timbered lobby and this nearly-as-high massive Christmas tree. The theme of the tree is inspired by the Pacific Northwest.

The tree is decorated with an assortment of ornaments representing the rich history of the west and Pacific northwest.

Nestled in the branches are lighted teepees, satchels, and red and green plaid ribbons.

Other ornaments include small lighted lanterns, twigs, and discs of wood with snowflake patterns burned into them.

Large moose antlers adorned with red poinsettias and plaid and burlap bows are also found throughout the tree.

Over at reception, large decorated wreaths hang from the back wall.

The wreaths have similar decorations to the Christmas tree — plaid bows, red poinsettias, as well as an ornamental arrows and small wildflowers.

The children’s area is made cozy with a lit tree and a wreath hanging over the television.

This tree features small lanterns with silhouettes of bears, balls with various evergreen trees, moose, and reindeer.

Decorated and lit garland hangs from various sections of the multiple balconies.

Over at the massive fireplace, a popular gathering place for guests especially on chilly days and nights, an ornate wreath hangs from above.

The stone fireplace, which is the only element in the lobby that is fabricated, depicts the many layers of the Grand Canyon. “Due to laws restricting the removal of material from National Parks, the fireplace was constructed and sculpted in place by artisans using similar materials,” said Christian Barlock, Principal, 4240 Architecture. “A paleontologist was hired to spend time in the Grand Canyon and document the strata and fossils. He then directed the construction of the fireplace at the lodge – including inserting actual fossils into the correct strata. This was done so we could ensure it was an accurate and successful representation.”

The bridge that spans over the Silver Creek Springs is beautifully decorated with lit garland and framed by two large wreathes in the window and a Christmas tree behind the DVC desk.

This spring, which continues to tell Nature’s story, flows from the lobby, then goes outside through the courtyard, into the swimming pool, down to Fire Rock Geyser, and finally into Bay Lake.

All of the ornamentation on these decorations carry the same theme found throughout the lobby.

Opposite the Silver Creek Springs, is the Mercantile — the resort’s sundry and gift shop.

Decorated swags and a small, unadorned pine tree greet guests upon entering.

Beautifully decorated garlands hang from the archways throughout the Mercantile, and rustic Christmas trees sit atop display tables.

Another decorated wreath hangs over the fireplace located towards the back of the shop.

A snowman made from pine logs is the centerpiece of this ornately decorated swag. Other decorations include gold and red balls, silver snowflakes, poinsettias, and a red plaid and gold bow with pinecones.

The lit tree and wreath leading to the stairway to the second level look beautiful in spite of the stroller parking.

Lit garland decorates the bannisters leading to the Whispering Canyon Cafe. Here, a small canoe drifts along a sea of green.

Another look at the magnificent lobby. To the far right, is the front entrance to the hotel. On the roof of the interior entrance are reindeer and more trees.

A closer look at the roof over the main entrance/exit of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge shows the beautifully lit reindeer and conical trees made from twig branches.

Wreaths adorn the hallway past Artist Point Restaurant and heading toward the back of the resort.

Among the holiday decorations, some construction work seems to be going on at the resort.
