BREAKING: Themed Lands in Development for ‘Coco’, ‘Encanto’, Disney Villains at Magic Kingdom, Possibly Replacing Rivers of America

Discounts:

A new land (or lands) are under development for beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. The possible land(s) would include “Coco,” “Encanto,” and Disney Villains.

Magic Kingdom expansion concept art

Plans are in early development, but guests could enter the casita from “Encanto” and ride on an alebrije from “Coco.” Concept art implies this project would also replace Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island. It appears the land could wrap around the north end of Rivers of America, connecting Frontierland to Liberty Square in a second direction, by way of a linking Big Thunder Mountain to Haunted Mansion.

The art also shows the spooky Disney Villains portion of the area in the background.

  1. Encant belongs at DAK so you could have an animal show too i am sorry villians makes sense at mk where encanto belong at dak and coco in mexico.

  2. They do realize that is another sinkhole issue hence why its never been touched and thats backstage roadways that cm get 2 and from wrk yes its that close hence why for fireworks cms need to rush out or get stuck! Are you giving cms an alt route to get around?

  3. This part of the panel was just so ridiculous. No real plans to announce, nothing new on the horizon. Just “what if we did this?” And “what if we did that?”. It was like watching my drunk friends talk about their fantasy theme park and just as pointless. What an embarrassing panel, where all that was announced was them finally coming close to finish two attractions announced years ago, bringing back a meet and greet with Figment that existed when I was a child and bringing back HEA, which should never have been replaced in the first place. Then again, what can you expect when the head of parks is a guy who thought “churros are back!” was exciting d23 news last year.

  4. “Blue Sky” does not mean currently in development. And where do you get the idea that this should replace Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island? The image clearly shows it NEXT to the river and behind Big Thunder, which has plenty of undeveloped land.

  5. Cant wait to see how much of this was budget cut. But in all honestly, we get new lands and Universal gets a new park. Embarrassing.

  6. Who over heard my nephew these are his wdi plans except coco belongs in epcot and encanto at dak. Seriously my nephew is only 14 but his mom is not dumb and his concepts for all have been copywritten so if any of this comes to play bc lets face it wdw w concept drawings never happen! But my nephew might have a card in this if it does! Not like they would sue wdw its home to them but it would still hurt.

  7. Seems to me this was nothing more than trying to say “Hey don’t look over at Epic Universe! Look at what we may, might, somewhere in the future could do!”

  8. Uhhh…seriously??? My toddler can come up with more creative and imaginative themed lands than Disney Imagineering these days. Zero fit for the MK, maybe perhaps EPCOT, but still too focused on IP rather than true theming or fantasy or storytelling. Just another sign of a declining company. Pathetic.

  9. An incredibly bad decision. Coco yes…but, they can’t just plug in Encanto because it’s another Latino culture to go along side Coco. Coco fits because Mexico is beyond the Texas or Arizona boarder…like the new land is beyond Thunder Mountain. But, Encanto is Columbia. That does not fit into Frontierland. As for the villains, it’s fine if there is a connection (path) with Haunted Mansion.
