Disney Vacation Club owners can request identical accommodations for the same week each year for 10% more points than that booking would normally cost. This practice used to be called “Guaranteed Weeks” but has been rebranded as “Favorite Weeks.”
When you buy your Disney Vacation Club membership, you may be thinking about booking the same week every year.
For instance, maybe you’re buying into Disney Vacation Club with the intent to stay at the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in a one-bedroom suite the week between Christmas and the new year.
Instead of trying each November to book the room you want at the 11-month mark, Disney offers the opportunity to purchase “Favorite Weeks.”
The benefits of buying this way include not having to struggle with booking each year, full cancellation any year, and locking in the number of points needed for that particular week for the duration of the contract.
The only change here appears to be in the name. The “Favorite Week” is booked for the owner by Disney before any other guest has a chance to book it. The removal of the term “guaranteed” is likely for legal purposes, and at this time, no changes have been announced to the program.

I have been a DVC member for 20 plus years. I always liked the benefit of reserving a DVC villa at 11 months in advance of my trip. But I have noticed recently, that at the 11 month window, all of the premium villas are fully rented and even beyond the 11 month window which is contrary to the DVC contract. When did this change??
I doubt that it is even legal, just marketing.
If you buy a “guaranteed week” for week 27, you actually can cancel it and use your points any way you want. The verbiage makes it sound like you are locked into that week when you are not. Changing it might get rid of that misconception.
The name is not the only thing that has changed. The cost for “favourite weeks” has gone up, at least for RIV. I’m not aware that they are allowed to do that as I thought the points cost was based on the year the resort was declared.
