Walt Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley has been posting photos from the refurbishment process of the old Innoventions and Communicore buildings at EPCOT. Today he shared more about the new ceiling at Creations Shop.
In his Instagram caption, Riddley writes, “For our transformation of the previous CommuniCore structures, our team wanted to bring rhythm and warmth to the ceiling. We selected a prefabricated metal system finished with a wood texture to bring as much warmth from natural finishes as practical. You can see a few of our samples and mock-ups of the details in photos here.”
“We chose a “woven” texture of interlocking panels that is repeated in each of the bays formed by our new structural ribs, given the impression of subtle movement like waves on the ocean. This ceiling design extends for the full width of the new Creations Shop, including into the adjacent Club Cool space, to give an airy, continuous feel to the space.”

Where’s the color and characters?
I remember when Mickey’s Star Traders and the villain store at Hollywood Studios were cool, before they turned them into bland, generic Disney stores.
