Disney has announced that James Cameron’s Avatar has become the highest-grossing film of all time at the global box office once again as it surpasses Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame.
A China reissue of Avatar, which began on Friday, has so far added RMB 80M ($12.3M) to the film’s gross during its first two days of reissue.
Avatar’s worldwide gross is now at an estimated $2.802B versus Avengers: Endgame’s $2.797B. Avatar first became the top-selling global release of all time in 2010 when it passed Titanic (1997). Once it premiered in July 2019, Endgame overtook Avatar — but now it’s back on top.
The Avatar sequel wrapped up filming this past fall, and the epic story will continue to add to the behemoth franchise.
