With the reopening of Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando Resort, we’re revisiting the hotel’s many restaurants. We swung by Sal’s Market Deli and Bice Ristorante, and now we’re sitting down for breakfast at Trattoria del Porto.
Trattoria del Porto Seating and Ambiance
Trattoria del Porto is usually a buffet, so the dining experience has been modified. There are individual items or the option of a family-style breakfast. Throughout the restaurant, tables have been spaced out or otherwise marked as unavailable to ensure proper social distance is maintained.
The decor furthers the Mediterranean theme of the resort. We were somewhat amused if not baffled by these crustacean-looking acrobat murals along the columns.

A la Carte Menu
Breakfast Family Style Menu
The Family Style Menu costs $23 for Adults and $14 for children, with plenty of options for carbs (waffles, pancakes), eggs (scrambled, omelette, or boiled), meats (bacon, sausage, ham, meatballs), toast (wheat, white, or rye), and a selection of beverages like juice, tea, and coffee.
For the sake of the review, we pretty much ordered one of each option on the menu.
They bring a basket of pastries and a large plate of fruit for the table to share. There was a nice variety and everything was fresh.
There were croissants, chocolate croissants, a bran muffin, a cranberry-filled pastry, and a cinnamon roll in the pastry basket.
The fruit plate had melons, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, and pineapple.
Though the menu listed yogurt, we never received any yogurt.
There is a choice of pancakes or waffles—again, we got both.
Neither the pancakes nor the waffles were very good, but they weren’t terrible either. The batter might have been old, since there was a heavy, dense consistency to them.
There was a light dusting of powdered sugar on both the waffles and pancakes.
According to the menu, the pancakes and waffles come with syrup and berry compote. We were expecting something fresh, but these accompaniments come in small jars on the table.
Granted, they are adorable, but it makes for a bit more effort in terms of preparing your waffles before they dry out fully.
All of the egg options were excellent. The omelet was fairly hefty.
We were also served a large plate of perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs.
The hard-boiled eggs came still in the shell, so it was kind of a hassle peeling them.
The sausage was nicely seasoned and seared extra crispy.
The bacon was crispy and thin, but not overdone.
The ham was just okay, but a bit plain compared to our final option:
While theses sounded a bit odd at first, to our surprise, we really liked the breakfast meatballs.
There was rye, white, and wheat toast.
We have no complaints about the toast. It was standard—it’d be hard to mess up toast.
Overall, we found the Family-Style Breakfast at Trattoria del Porto to be a great deal for the price, especially considering how much food we received. The servers were nice enough to give us boxes for our leftovers as well. If you’re looking for a complete breakfast to fuel up before a long day at Universal Studios Florida and/or Islands of Adventure, this is a prime place to do so, and you’ll be just a walk or boat ride away from the parks.
