Work is underway at the Walt Disney World Resort entrance gateway on Hotel Plaza Boulevard. Prep work like surface repairs and primer application has begun. Let’s take a look at what is going on.
The stark, white primer immediately caught our attention, even across four traffic lanes.
A closer look at the “Welcome to Walt Disney World Resort” sign shows that it is painted entirely in white primer. Looking closely, we can see a few blue marks near the “Welcome to” lettering.
A lift is in place at the Minnie Mouse sign. Note the plywood sheeting used to protect the grass from the lift’s wheels.
The columns supporting the Mickey Mouse sign are undergoing surface repairs. Paint crews will need a smooth surface before applying primer.
The Hotel Plaza Boulevard entrance sign is one of five resort entrance gateways. Each will receive a makeover for the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary. Work is well underway at the Western Way entrance arch. The Magic Kingdom toll plaza was also refurbished in advance of the anniversary celebration.
