After a nearly 30-year run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” remains dark after the theme park shutdown. Earlier this week, the show’s billboard was removed from the side of the theater inside the Animation Courtyard. Disney stated that the billboard was in the process of being refreshed, and today, a new billboard took its place.
While rumors circulated about the show’s demise, it seems the removal was more along the lines of scheduled maintenance as opposed to a sign of the show’s permanent closure.
The art on the new billboard hasn’t changed. These billboards are routinely replaced due to color fading from the sun.
The two Star Wars billboards on the side of the “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” building were also removed earlier in the week and replaced today.
What do you think of the newly-installed billboards? Are you looking forward to the return of stage shows at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?
This sad, dated show AND Beauty and the Beast have been running almost nonstop for literally 30 years. They need to be replaced or SIGNIFICANTLY redone.
