Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Disneyland has debuted a Marshmallow Strawberry Shortcake Wand that’s looked quite intriguing. It’s a homemade marshmallow wand on a stick coated in caramel and white chocolate (just like the churro toffee wand), then dusted in shortcake crumbs and strawberry flavored flecks.
The Marshmallow Strawberry Shortcake Wand looks delicious with the strawberry flecks and shortcake crumbs, almost like a Good Humor ice cream bar.
We have to say it does photograph really well, some might say this Valentine’s Day treat is quite Instagramable!
You can really see the caramel oozing below the shortcake crumbs and white chocolate layer in this shot.
The marshmallow interior was denser than a typical store-bought marshmallow, which really helped it keep its shape. The caramel coating was sticky and I’m not sure it was really needed, because it didn’t really suit the texture or flavor profile. Meanwhile, the whole chocolate wrapping was great and reminded us of the toffee churro. We wish the caramel layer was nixed completely since the white chocolate layer complimented the rest of the flavors quite well.
This marshmallow wand did get a bit crumbly, so keep a napkin handy to catch those loose pieces that fall off the wand. The outside coating wasn’t too sweet, but the only flavor we really tasted was the artificial strawberry flecks. We would prefer a fresh strawberry shortcake over this treat, but this marshmallow wand did remind us of strawberry shortcake.
Overall, it was a fun take on a classic strawberry shortcake, but not life-changing, so don’t go out of your way for this treat. However, if you feel intrigued to try it, you can find it at the Candy Palace in Disneyland for $5.49.
