It’s been some time since our last Downtown Disney District update, so we decided to take a stroll and check out what’s new. Here’s a look at the Halloween merchandise display at World of Disney, pedestrian bridge progress at Pixar Pals, and more!
Downtown Disney District
The vendor hut by the tram loading area is still blocked off by construction walls. It doesn’t appear that much has really changed in the last couple of months.
We decide to head straight into World of Disney to check out the Halloween merchandise that is now available.
The Pumpkin Mickey Loungefly Backpacks have been very popular, but thankfully the Resort has been able to keep them in stock.
We love the Halloween 2019 projections on the floor inside World of Disney.
And the giant Pumpkin Mickey filled to the brim with candy corn is a great touch! This display should tide guests over until Pumpkin Mickey makes his way onto Main Street in Disneyland on September 6.
For guests who have been hoping to purchase The Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary merchandise, there is still plenty available in World of Disney.
We love this artwork of Madame Leota and Ezra by one of the merchandise displays.
For guests who are a fan of Descendants, there are costumes and t-shirts on sale.
And here’s a corner dedicated to the Dia de Los Muertos Celebracíon merchandise.
Outside World of Disney, the rest of Downtown Disney is fairly empty and relaxed.
The Disney Dress Shop has the new Haunted Mansion Wallpaper Dress and Hatbox Ghost Loungefly purse available for purchase.
And two handbags from the Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary Dooney & Bourke collection are available as well.
And we love that Sally’s Dress has made a return from last year. It’s available for $128.00.
The new Betsey Johnson Disney Parks Designer Collection is available, for those of you who are into collecting Limited Edition ears and jewelry.
Nearby, the Disney Home Store is getting into the fall spirit with pumpkin and leaves as decor throughout the store.
Right when guests walk in, they’re greeted by the new Hidden Mickey Kitchen and Housewares Collection.
Further inside, they have a collection of Halloween merchandise available, too.
Right now, we’re loving Jerrod Maruyama’s Haunted Mansion collection.
In case you missed it, Pin Traders next to the Monorail is back to selling Limited Edition Pins. They have select pins from the Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary collection.
And speaking of the Monorail, they continue to be closed daily from 11 AM to 6 PM. This will continue until September.
As for the rest of the west end of Downtown Disney, it feels like a ghost town.
Nothing is being done with the abandoned Rainforest Cafe.
Pop-Up! Disney will be closing September 2, which couldn’t come soon enough. There haven’t been many guests coming through the exhibit since it first opened in April.
On our way to Pixar Pals, we stopped for a look at the progress to the pedestrian bridge. This bridge is slated to open mid-September and will take guests from Level 2 (Coco) of Pixar Pals into Downtown Disney.
The side railings and paneling are being installed along the bridge.
And it looks like a concrete path has been laid with trees planted alongside it. Guests will follow this new path into Downtown Disney.
As for the new tram drop-off area in the quad between Pixar Pals and Mickey & Friends parking structure, it’s come a long way. It appears the trees have all been planted. This will be quite a lush and green area.
There is still a lot of ground that’s just dirt and hasn’t been laid with brickwork yet.
But portions of the ground have been laid with bricks, so it seems like its only a matter of time before the whole area is complete. Hopefully, it’ll be done around the same time as the pedestrian bridge.
And guests will be overjoyed to learn that a new set of elevators are being built at Mickey & Friends! This should help, seeing as two elevators haven’t been enough at the parking structure, especially during busier times of the day.
Those are all the updates we have from Downtown Disney District. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Twitter for more news from the Disneyland Resort.
