Welcome to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Big things are in the works for this park in the near future. In the meantime, let’s see what’s in store for us today.
There’s a new billboard on the backside of the Chinese Theater. Disney doesn’t want you to forget that Toy Story 4 is coming out next month!
Interestingly, this billboard faces the entrance to Toy Story Land. I’m sure that’s not a coincidence.
Construction
Over on Grand Avenue, near what will be the entrance to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, some more work is happening on the Muppet*Vision 3D show building. They’re doing some touch-ups on the grey paint. They really don’t want you to see it from inside the land. I’m sure there’s lots of tweaking to do as the sight-lines become more finalized.
They also extended the brickwork on this side of the facade somewhat recently. They didn’t even bother to paint it until very recently.
This part of the facade used to be blocked from view by the Streets of America facades, so it didn’t need to go up very far. It took them quite a while to realize there was a hole to be filled in.
Speaking of Galaxy’s Edge, the countdown timer is nearing its end. They only have until the end of August to get this place up and running. If you look to the right of Buzz Lightyear’s rear end here, you can see some painting happening on the final spire.
They seem to be working full-speed ahead. I think they added more trees to the path between Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge, as well. It helps block the sight-lines.
Et Cetera
In Character, the shop near the exit of Voyage of the Little Mermaid, has been mostly Fancy Nancy stuff for a couple weeks now, ever since she made her appearance across the courtyard.
If you’re looking for the Little Mermaid merchandise that used to reside here, they set up a little kiosk just outside.
I took a stroll through Star Wars Launch Bay and noticed that this gallery (which had been props and costumes from Solo: A Star Wars Story for over a year) had reverted to Star Wars ship models and such.
There’s a little something from almost every film.
Merchandise
These aren’t new, but they’ve been moved to a new spot in the Launch Bay Cargo shop.
These might be a good choice to accessorize with when you visit Galaxy’s Edge.
Today was a big day for pin collectors! In addition to the previously announced pin releases, we were also graced with the presence of the “Up!” 10th Anniversary pins that originally were for sale at the May Pin Trading Night.
Also released today was the opening day pin for the new live-action Aladdin film.
That’s it for today! I’m going to go help Hollywood screenwriter extraordinaire Juan Scenario with his latest screenplay. You too can help him out if you happen to be on Sunset Boulevard at the right time of day!
Kudos to the Disneybounding mother and daughters pictured in the “Ariel kiosk” photo above! And to you, Henry, for capturing that detail! 😄
