Donuts of Disneyland have been the rage for a while now and there’s no sign of them stopping. We indulged in Gingerbread and Peppermint Mocha Donuts last December and we couldn’t get enough. So when we saw these new Mickey and Minnie Donuts at the Coffee Cart Near Central Plaza, we knew we’d have to give them a try.
Mickey and Minnie Donuts
Mickey Donut – $6.50
First, we decided to put the Mickey Donut to the test. This donut looks very similar to the Mickey Macaron available at Jolly Holiday for Get Your Ears On Celebration. We didn’t care for the macaron, so we hoped we’d like the donut much better. And we did!
The donut has a thick layer of chocolate filling and it’s topped with red and black icing, fitting with Mickey’s color scheme. The buttons might look familiar, as they also decorate the Mickey Macaron and the Red Marshmallow dipping sauce that comes with the Fantasia Mickey Churro.
We really loved this donut. It’s not quite as sweet and heavy as the seasonal donuts we tried last December, which we really appreciated. This tasted like a traditional Chocolate Bar you can find at any donut shop, except decorated to look like Mickey Mouse. It’ll satisfy any chocolate lover and you won’t want to share. We would definitely get this donut again and we hope that it remains a staple of the Coffee Cart Near Central Plaza.
Minnie Donut – $6.50
This Minnie Donut is advertised as being Strawberry Lemonade flavored, but we didn’t taste any hint of lemon. In fact, we thought this donut was a little boring in comparison to its Mickey counterpart. That’s not to say it was bad. It tasted like a plain, glazed donut. The fresh strawberries were a nice addition that improved each bite, but we thought the lack of filling made this underwhelming. We’d prefer the Mickey Donut over the Minnie one.
Have you tried any of the donuts available at Disneyland Park? Which has been your favorite so far?
