With Disney’s Skyliner system testing at a high fleet and full speed, work at each station is coming along well also. I stopped by Disney’s Art of Animation Resort to check out the latest updates on the station that will be shared with Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Construction workers left the entrance door wide open (oops), so here’s a look at the progress of the general area. The right side will likely have some sort of greenery when finished.
We also got a peek at the entrance to the mystery structure they’re building just opposite to the main site. We’re guessing this will likely be a restroom for the gondola station.
On the opposite side of Hourglass Lake is where they’re housing most of the construction equipment being used for the station. I spotted these large spools wrapped with Gondola Cable.
From this picture, it is clear to see how thick these cables actually are. It isn’t as easy to tell the actual size of the cables when they are on the track.
A gondola was in the station for the entire length of my loop around the lake. At one point, the workers used the intercom system to make an announcement, however, I wasn’t able to capture any gondola testing in action.
Progress on the side closest to Pop Century. I believe this is where the entrance/queue line will be.
This station seems to be nearing completion. Most of the structure is complete and it seems to me as though all that’s really left at this station are some final touches. We do still have a ways to go before the Skyliner officially opens in the Fall of this year. The increased testing has made me extremely excited for this new transportation offering and I’m excited to step into one of these state-of-the-art gondolas for the fist time!
As always, we will continue providing the latest updates for the Disney Skyliner ahead of its official opening!
