Disneyland is celebrating Mickey and Minnie with the “Get Your Ears On” celebration happening through May. Among the multitude of special food options is the TV Dinner Pot Roast meal from Carnation Cafe. For breakfast they have “Celebration Mickey” Chicken and Waffles. At lunch they have Hot Chicken and Waffles. Then for dinner they have the aforementioned TV Dinner Pot Roast meal.
TV Dinner Pot Roast ($23.00)
The TV Dinner Pot roast is Pot Roast, Blue Cheese and Bacon Mac and Cheese, Sautéed Green Beans and Carrots, and Braised Red Cabbage, served with a Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. There are few times when I have taken a bite of something and had an Anton Ego moment. When I bit into the pot roast, I had such a moment and was transported to my grandmother’s dinner table. This pot roast is even better than my grandmother’s. As Remy would say, “If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff.” This is the “good stuff.”
Wagyu beef is Japanese cattle beef and it was succulently tender. As if that wasn’t good enough, the blue cheese and bacon mac and cheese was surprisingly delicious. I say surprisingly because I am not a huge fan of blue cheese. It was a perfect pairing with the pot roast. The carrots and green beans were also cooked perfectly. The braised red cabbage was the only part of this meal that I did not enjoy. It was bitter and sour. Lastly, the pineapple upside down cake was a nice way to end the meal. It was a perfect portion size and sweet.
