There have been many changes throughout the Disneyland Resort in the last year and we can add the new Matterhorn entrance to the list. After undergoing a refurbishment that lasted through the summer and fall seasons, the walls have finally come down. The Matterhorn is looking much fresher with its updated look.
The previous entrance to the Matterhorn attraction was a bit of a mess. There were often two standby lines that wrapped around either side of the mountain, until one side was eliminated from use. With just a single standby line and a wait time that was often 40 minutes or longer, crowding became an issue. With the introduction of Fast Pass to this attraction, the chaos only grew worse. It was often very unclear where the entrance to the Fast Pass queue was, confusing both guests and Cast Members.
As you can see, this refurbishment seems to have addressed those issues head on by creating very clear signage. It’s refreshing to see an attraction that was once very outdated receive a modern look. Now the entrance appears clean and inviting, and very colorful.
One of the best new design elements to debut is a more organized queue for the standby line. The railings eliminate any confusion regarding where guests need to stand. Plus, it allows for more room along the walkway between Matterhorn and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage that leads to Tomorrowland.
With all of the changes taking place at the Disneyland Resort, we are now wondering what attraction will be next to undergo refurbishment and get a new look.
Get ready for another price hike!
Gotta be the first step towards reworking that area into Arendelle…
Finally! I am totally amazed at how long it took them to “get it,” with the available space IN FRONT of the main entrance, into the attraction. Glad they figured it out. Looks great. Looking forward to queue-ing up for the Left Side > Right Side.
Of course, the only two times I ever got to visit Disneyland were the two instances where the Matterhorn was down. Not sure when I will get back. :(
