Today marked the start of the new breakfast service at the Plaza Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. Serving from 7:45am-10:30am, guests will now find morning fare such as Mickey Waffles, steak and eggs, and other staples.

The number of pageviews on any post we write about Mimosas tells us that you, the reader, really likes them. So we of course had to try it.

Plaza’s Mimosa ($11.00)

The mimosa was pretty light on the Sparkling Wine, but it wasn’t too bad. It’s a pleasant mix of fruit juices and a viable option for those who enjoy such beverages.

Bellini ($10.00)

The Bellini was probably light on the alcohol as well, but again, not off-putting. You can do better at Walt Disney World, but not in the Magic Kingdom.

Mickey Waffles ($14.00)

Mickey Waffles are always good, but these come with a sweet banana sauce that makes them one of, if not the best WDW incarnation of the classic dish. If you’re looking for a full-size one, you can always head to Sleepy Hallow Refreshments in Liberty Square. The inclusion of bacon, sausage, and fruit here is a plus and it rounds out the plate and makes for a more balanced meal than waffles alone.

All-American Classic Breakfast Platter ($16.00)

Offered because it has to be, these are the same standard breakfast items you’ll find at most buffets and sit-down locations who open this early. It won’t change your life, but it’s certainly good enough if you want a little more than just Mickey Waffles. I actually really enjoyed the breakfast potatoes as they included large pieces of flavorful ham that really plussed the ubiquitous offering. It certainly made it stand out from most other Disney World breakfast dishes.

Lobster-Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict ($18.00)

The best dish we had, these are LOADED with lobster and made to perfection. I’ll be shocked if this remains at this portion size and/or price for long. The lobster was more flavorful than I could have imagined for a theme park restaurant, the eggs perfectly prepared, and the crunchy fried green tomato accented everything perfectly. To top it all off, it even comes with those potatoes we just raved about with the last item. This is one of my favorite breakfast dishes at any Disney Park or Resort in the world.

Steak and Eggs ($18.00)

Another monster portion size for the price, the steak is a solid choice. It does feel a bit weird having steak at the plaza, but those looking for a hearty start to the day will find it here. It’s not going to be the quality of a fine cut Tiffins, but it gets the job done. The eggs are just fine, probably akin to those you’d get from a fast food restaurant, but the tasty potatoes are back as well. In case this wasn’t big enough for you, there’s even a biscuit. Overall, the Plaza has pieced together a solid and enjoyable breakfast in one of the most quaint and charming interiors at Walt Disney World. This feels like the right way to start a Magic Kingdom day, and certainly a cheaper option than most alternatives.
