Earlier in February we told you that the Speedway gas station near Magic Kingdom would be undergoing a lengthy refurbishment to add a Speedy Cafe and remodel the store interior. This Speedway gas station is popular among both cast members and guests for being a cheap, good alternative to the pricey resort stores for drinks and snacks. The gas station reopened this morning, we stopped by to check out the new offerings.
The “grab and go” selection was increased, making for a quick lunch if you’re in a hurry.
There’s still a massive beer and wine selection. We really do recommend picking up a case here instead of buying at your resort store. A can of beer at a Disney hotel will run you more than a 6 pack here, it’s worth the Uber over if you don’t have a car.
The Coke Freestyle machines are gone.
There’s frozen yogurt available now, kind of like a cheap Froyo.
The F’Real milkshakes and smoothies machine was expanded. This machine takes a cup of ice cream and turns it into a milkshake, they’re really good.
The slushy selection has increased exponentially as well. Feel free to mix and match, we did.
A selection from Dunkin Donuts is available including donuts, coffee, iced coffee, and tea.
Speedy Cafe selections are available, all done touch screen and made to order.
Overall there’s improvements to the general layout and speediness of the gas station, but they lost a lot of the charm from the original murals and Hess trucks around the building.
Whatever you do, do not look at the fat content of a F’real milkshake!
Do they still serve Godfather’s pizza? If not, that is real shame. You could order freshly made Godfather’s pizza there, and at the one near Disney Springs before.
People seem to like Coke Freestyle, but personally I prefer the old fountain machines – the product you get from them tastes far nicer! So glad to see this change!
I’m planning to walk over to the Speedway opposite Boardwalk to pick up my Yeunglings supply. Not paying Disney prices and Instacart need to meet you to sign and I want the food delivery already there when I arrive.
The one thing I would change is…get rid of Dunkin’ Donuts and replace with Krispy Kreme.
