It is once again time to take to the skies above Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a bird’s eye view of the construction of the park’s largest expansion, including Toy Story Land and the highly anticipated Star Wars themed land. We begin our journey with an aerial flyover video of the site:

Due to popular demand, I took the time to label a photo to better show where things are:

As always, you can click the photos to enlarge them.

In Toy Story Land, we can see a wall being constructed in front of the parking garage to block it from the view of guests while they are in the land.

The new backstage facility behind Star Wars has taken shape since we last checked in. It will likely be the first piece of the expansion to be completed.

If you look closely at the load station for the Slinky Dog Dash, you can see one small section red coaster track installed where guests will eventually board the toy vehicle.

Not much else is happening in Star Wars Land, other than the wall we showed you in our expansion update last week. Otherwise, the ditch for the larger attraction continues to be worked on.

The work south of the road, towards the bottom, is for the new parking entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Toy Story Land is expected to open in 2018, while Star Wars Land will officially open in 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

  1. First of all people need to check themselves. This site does not exist for you and only you. Bottom line is disrespectful behavior is disrespectful behavior. Tom doesn’t owe you anything. Disney doesn’t owe you anything. When you get something free like this update be appreciative of the people who take time out of their lives to share things with you. Without people like Tom, we would have to wait to see anything until opening day. As far as name calling goes everyone needs to stop assuming things about each other and labeling each other and putting each other into categories. Go ride it’s a small world and pay attention. If you don’t then u will be handcuffed to it until you do. Or try to drown yourself to escape the music. LOL

    • I removed the above comments, but thank you for your kind words. Personally, I enjoy seeing the project take shape every few weeks, and its nice to look back at later when you have pictures from every month or so and can then watch the project evolve from start to finish.

      • I do hope that you are proud of your censorship. The last time I witnessed such an appalling suppression of thought was during the horrendous Reagan administration.

        • You had to go back to Reagan? The last time I saw such an appalling suppression of thought was when you last posted. Every time someone disagrees with you, you attempt to suppress their thoughts by calling them interns, shills, or any number of things. We live in a world where people have differing opinions. I see no need to be vile when someone disagrees with you. The fact is, them man owns the website and has every right to delete whatever he chooses. This is not a democracy, it’s an entertainment/information website. I believe what you meant to say was thank you for all the hard work, time, and money you put into this site Tom.

          • We kindly ask that you please refrain from feeding the trolls.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

  2. Thanks for the updates Tom. I think you do a great job keeping us up to date on all things Disney, no matter what Josh at easyWDW says! Have a great day!

  3. I enjoy the updates and appreciate them even if I don’t click on all the construction videos/photos (I like to see it more when it’s close to being completed). Your posts are more frequent than Josh’s, but oftentimes when Josh hasn’t posted on his site in a while it’s because he’s out rounding up wait time data and/or getting certain crowd calendars ready for upcoming months. Or updating his book. You’re both better than wdwmagic.
