The call will take place on Wednesday, May 10, at 4:30 p.m. ET / 1:30 p.m. PT via a live audio webcast. The Q2 earnings report will be released after the close of regular trading that day (4:00 p.m. ET).

During earnings calls, Disney not only announces their overall quarterly revenue, but Disney Parks revenue, streaming service subscriber counts, and more.

Sometimes executives make major announcements. CEO Bob Iger announced plans to eliminate 7,000 jobs during the February Q1 earnings call. CFO Christine McCarthy told investors on the same earnings call that the company has targeted cost savings of $5.5 billion.

Disney Shareholders’ Meeting

Disney Layoffs - March 2023

Similar to the quarterly earnings calls, Disney just held their annual shareholders’ meeting.

During the meeting, all shareholder proposals were rejected. In response to questions regarding the LGBTQIA+ community and more, Iger doubled down on diversity and inclusivity. He also accused Florida Governor Ron DeSantis of punishing Disney for free speech regarding the Parental Rights in Education bill and LGBTQIA+ rights.

One shareholder asked Iger about Marvel theme park rights, to which he responded, “We certainly would love to be able to do more with Marvel in our parks, but I’ll leave it at that.”

Iger confirmed that Disney will not bring back the Premier Annual Pass, granting access to both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.

Iger announced that Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana” will be the final element of the years-long EPCOT expansion. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson appeared to announce a live-action “Moana” remake.
