Disneyland Resort has filed five construction permits for new retail suites, bathrooms, and more at Downtown Disney District. The west side of the district is being completely reimagined, but as we noted in September, construction seems to have come to a halt. These permits are a good sign that it will pick back up soon.
Three of the permits are for “new commercial construction,” while one is for “tenant improvement” and another is listed as miscellaneous work. They were all filed on December 5, 2022.
The tenant improvement permit is for Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes. It is to “Extend And Enclose (With Planter Boxes) Outdoor Dining Area For Existing Restaurant.”
The “miscellaneous” work is to add these elements to the west side of Downtown Disney District:
- 1,000 square foot shade structure
- 1,250 square foot performance platform
- 258 feet x 7 feet min. tall fence
- 2,167 feet x 7 feet min. tall breeze block wall
- 21 light poles
- 5 event lawn poles
The platform, walls, and poles are likely for a new event space.
The three “new commercial construction” permits are for the construction of an 8,300 square-foot retail building with five suites, 760 square-foot breakroom building, and 1,203 square-foot restroom building.
