While Mickey’s Toontown is currently being reimagined at Disneyland, today we noticed the first coat of paint on the walls that surround the land.
As you approach the entrance to the land, if you look over the bridge that carries the Disneyland Railroad you can see the walls that hide the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway show building behind Toontown are now being painted to appear like hills.
We can see what the hills will look like in this concept art released for the renovation.
Mickey’s Toontown closed on March 8, 2022 and will reopen in early 2023 with Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. It will debut “new experiences and more play,” with a focus on families with young kids. We already know the character fountains and Chip ‘n Dale’s Treehouse have been demolished.
You can also see new concrete walls have started being erected if you look closely.
Take a tour of Mickey’s Toontown from before it closed.
