Demolition Continues on Spirit of Aloha Building at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Crews have demolished more of the building that once housed the Spirit of Aloha dinner show at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

A few days ago, we saw the beginnings of the demolition. Now even more of the building has been destroyed.

The air conditioner units from the back of the building are gone, giving us a clearer look at the demolition site from the Monorail.

Three large dumpsters hold some of the rubble, but still more is in piles on either side of a construction vehicle.

Most of the building has been knocked down, leaving only the front. We can actually see straight through to a railing on the other side.

Disney announced earlier this year that Spirit of Aloha was permanently closed and later filed a permit for demolition. A new Disney Vacation Club wing will replace the demolished Spirit of Aloha building.

  1. I am looking for forward to staying in a one bedroom suite in this new tower! My family is growing and the studio offerings is not enough anymore. The Polynesian Resort is one of our FAVORITE places to stay on property, so I welcome this expansion.

Unfortunately, it will be at the cost of some subtle low profile ambiance that this resort has always had.

In time, I am sure that this DVC tower will set into the vibe of the Polynesian Resort and be NOT as much as in “intruder” that the rendering seems to imply! :)
