Marvel Studios announced on Twitter today that they fully support the LGBTQIA+ community and denounce any and all legislation that may impact the group’s human rights.
After Disney’s attempt to show support for their LGBTQIA+ employees, Marvel seeks to reaffirm their support for the community as a whole.
Disney employees continue to be frustrated with Disney’s lukewarm response to the Florida Parental Rights in Education bill, known colloquially as the “Don’t Say Gay Bill.” Employees arranged several walk-outs for this week to protest the response from the company.
Marvel’s statement pledges support to their allies who promote the values of equality, acceptance, and respect. The statement read that Marvel Studios stands for hope, inclusivity, and strength.
In addition to the Parental Rights in Education bill in Florida, Georgia seeks to pass similar legislation prohibiting LGBT content from being taught in Georgia’s private schools.
Under the Common Humanity in Private Education Act, no private school classroom would be able to “promote, compel, or encourage classroom discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not appropriate for the age and developmental stage of the student.”
Marvel Studios frequently films in Georgia, but it remains to be seen if they will follow through on Chapek’s promise “to combat similar legislation in other states.” Marvel often films at Trilith Studios, just south of Atlanta. Black Panther and Spider-Man: No Way Home are just two of the films made at Trilith.

In other words, if you live in Georgia and your private school child attends a wedding with you – even if it’s a marriage between a man and a woman – then your child can’t talk about it in class during a “What I Did Over My Summer Vacation” share-fest, because heterosexuality is a sexual orientation. Yup, makes sense. *insert eye-roll here*
