It’s an exciting week for construction of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT as the Xandarian starship is finally being installed outside the show building.
A few days ago, the support structure and first wing were installed. Yesterday, we saw the cockpit and another wing installed.
As we passed the construction site on the Monorail this morning, we saw that a third wing had been installed since our last update yesterday and a fourth was being lowered into place by a crane.
The starship will be star-shaped, as seen in the concept art below.
Though the coloring has changed somewhat since the concept art, the shape has remained approximately the same and four more wings should be installed.
Crew members in scissor lifts were standing by to help secure the wing.
We expect the installation of the wings to be completed within the next few days, if not by tomorrow.
From the ground, we have our best look yet at the detailed back of the wings.
The wings are covered in faux (and maybe some real) machinery.
The ship is yellow and dark blue.
Red and white triangle symbols can be seen on the cockpit.
More subtle triangle symbols are on the wings.
The starship will tower over guests as they approach the “Wonders of Xandar” Pavilion.
This fourth wing is shaped slightly differently from the other three installed so far, which is in line with the concept art.
It is longer and thinner, with more blue.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is set to open this summer.

What’s with that big gray latticed mount? Not shown in any previous artwork.
Another BIG difference between the concept art and what’s being installed. The Concept art version has 8 wings, but there are only 6 connection points behind the cockpit! How many wings were on the ships in the 1st GOG movie??
