The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is getting us excited for Thanksgiving with the return of some of their delicious autumnal treats.
Pumpkin Pie Cake Pop – $7.99
If you like pumpkin pie, this cake pop is absolutely delicious.
The outside coating is white chocolate dyed orange to resemble a pumpkin. Festive fall leaf sprinkles decorate the bottom.
This pumpkin pie cake pop is silky smooth in texture. The cinnamon and nutmeg are prominent along with the pumpkin puree.
The only thing missing is the crust of a pumpkin pie!
We’ll definitely be getting this delicious treat again.
Autumnal Apple Pie Cupcake – $5.99
The Autumnal Apple Pie Cupcake returns to the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa this year. It is topped with a sugar pumpkin and buttercream in shades of orange, yellow, brown, and sage.
The cupcake itself is cinnamon-spiced, evoking the flavors of fall.
Don’t think about eating this on-the-go, as the interior is full of stewed apples.
The cake tastes like a mild spice cake. It was fluffy and had a nice flavor without being too heavy. It was a good base for this cupcake.
The tart apples were still crunchy and crisp. They had a nice spice and flavor and were the same quality of a good apple pie filling.
The icing was standard buttercream, but there was little too much of it for our taste. If you’re a big icing fan, this one may just be for you.
The sugar pumpkin was a fun decoration that kids in particular will probably love eating.
Overall, the spice cake balanced the tart apple filling really well, and the sweet icing brought the flavors together nicely. It wasn’t as well-balanced as some of the other desserts we’ve had from Gasparilla, though. We would have liked less icing and more filling, but it’s still a tasty treat.
The presentation was beautiful as well—the bakery team from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort never fails to impress.
