For those looking to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World with classic birthday cake, a visit to the Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort may be in order. The popular ice cream parlor has debuted a new 50th Celebration Shake topped with an entire slice of birthday cake.

The Celebration Shake is deliciously sweet! Gorgeous presentation with a taste that stands up to the appearance. The shake is impressive with the full slice atop and the glimmering gold medallion. It’s served in a souvenir plastic mason jar with the Beaches & Cream logo.
The jar is rimmed with frosting and EARidescent sprinkles (including some Mickey-shaped ones!) that match the blues and teals and purples of the cake frosting, adding a nice shimmer to the presentation.
The caramel seems more for show than for flavor. There is a thin drizzle of caramel sauce inside the jar that appears to have iridescent glitter in it. But you don’t get much of the caramel flavor; there is not enough in the shake to make much impact.
The milkshake has a strong cake batter flavor that is also reminiscent of marshmallow. The thick, creamy consistency indicates much more ice cream than milk, and the whipped cream adds an extra smoothness.
The cake is excellent with thin layers of moist vanilla cake and ample frosting between. The frosting is sweet but not overwhelmingly so.
A great treat for fans of a lot of sweetness, great cake, and cake batter flavor. At $16, it’s only $1 more than the other specialty shakes on the menu and worth it for the unique anniversary experience.
