Disney Genie has officially launched for Walt Disney World in the My Disney Experience app. The new service helps guests plan their day. Instead of FastPass, guests can now purchase Genie+ or individual Lightning Lane to access lower wait times. Check out our guide to booking Lightning Lane with Genie+ and read on for information on making individual Lightning Lane selections.
With individual Lightning Lane, guests can purchase a time for their party to arrive at a few specific attractions.
We saw two different versions of this page, one which said “a maximum of 2 attractions per day (booked one at a time)” and one that said “one or 2 specific attractions per day.” The correct verbiage is 2 attractions per day.
The Disney Genie Tip Board will tell guests when the next Lightning Lane window is for eligible attractions. The Tip Board will clarify which attractions are available individually and which are available through Genie+. We chose the individual Lightning Lane for Frozen Ever After at EPCOT, with a window starting at 10:00 a.m. for $9.
We were then able to confirm our party, then search for later times in the day and pick a more specific window.
Before purchasing, guests are able to review their selection and contact info.
A confirmation page then gives a confirmation number. It is also emailed.
After purchasing our individual Lightning Lane, it showed up as purchased in our Tip Board.
Scrolling will show other Genie+ and individual Lightning lane selections available.
We booked the Test Track Lightning Lane with Genie+, so it then showed up as booked.
Visiting an attraction’s landing page within the app will also show an option for booking Lightning Lane.
Most attractions show the forecasted wait time for the day.
The system works the same at all four parks. Here’s what the morning looked like at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Of course, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is one of the most popular attractions. An individual Lightning Lane for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is $15.
With tax, this came out to $15.98.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is $8 today.
When booking Lightning Lane times, you can click “Plans During This Time” to see what overlaps. Our Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway time was 9:20 a.m. to 10:20 a.m., which overlapped with our Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance time starting at 10:15 a.m.
Guests are able to purchase overlapping experiences.
After purchasing, there is an option on the Tip Board to add another guest to an individual selection.
When booking Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (available via Genie+), we were shown our overlapping individual Lightning Lane selections again.
We found that the old FastPass rules still apply, and you can successfully tap in 5 minutes early or up to 15 minutes late.

Can i book a regular genie + attraction and immediately after, can I purchase an individual lightening lane? Are those treated as separate, or do I have to use the regular genie + reservation before purchasing an individual, or let two hours pass before I purchase?
For example, at 7:00 am can I reserve slinky dog dash for 9:30 am, and at 7:01 can I purchase rise of the resistance for 10 am?
