Last month, we saw the demolition of the Toontown Five & Dime and Gag Factory façades, as construction for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway continues. We’re checking the latest progress today.
Since our last update, more building façades have been removed on the left of the skyline pictured above. This exposes even more of the show building.
The rest of the Five & Dime façade has been removed, leaving the steel frame of the building behind.
On the construction walls, you can see a glimpse of the concept art for the ride’s entrance, “El Capitoon Theatre,” as pictured below.
To the right, you can see what remains of the Gag Factory entrance.
Only the brick framing and blue roof remain intact, with the rest of the theming removed or damaged.
While Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway was originally planned to open in 2022, COVID-19 related construction delays have pushed the anticipated opening into 2023.
