Disney will be producing a new “Haunted Mansion” movie based on the classic attraction, and LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish will star in the ghoulish film. Their roles in the film have not yet been announced.
Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who also produced the live-action “Aladdin,” will produce the adaptation of the fan-favorite attraction seen in both Disneyland Park in California and the Magic Kingdom in Florida.
The “Haunted Mansion” had previously been made into a film in 2003 and starred Eddie Murphy, which received a “rotten” score on Rotten Tomatoes by both critics and the audience. Given the major following the attraction has with theme park guests, it’s no surprise Disney wants another chance for the property to follow in the footsteps of “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
The new film, which has not been given a release date yet, will be directed by Justin Simien (“Dear White People”).

Eddie Murphy must be relieved to know that his version will actually be the better version.
