Untangled Salon, Keg & Compass Pub, Nightingale’s Piano Bar Among Adults-Only Experiences Coming to Disney Wish

When Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Wish, launches next summer, it will not only bring tons of fun for little ones and activities to share as a family, but some fun for adults looking for a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of the cruise too. In their continuing YouTube series, “Designing the Disney Wish,” Disney has today announced several adults-only areas of the ship.

outdoor-oasis

Senses Spa will feature DCL’s first-ever outdoor spa experience, the Outdoor Oasis. This will be an extension of the signature Rainforest experience found on other Disney cruise ships. The ourdoor area features lounges, hanging chairs and shaded relaxation areas with a view of the sky and plenty of fresh sea air. This outdoor area pairs with another DCL first — an ice lounge, allowing guests to combine thermal therapies.

untangled

Untangled Salon is the first standalone salon experience aboard a DCL ship. With blooming petal light fixtures, floating lanterns, sun emblems on tables and purple chairs, this “Tangled”- inspired salon will feature haircuts and styling, as well as manicures, pedicures, teeth whitening and skin treatments.

The companion to Untangled Salon is Hook’s Barbery, a unique twist on a traditional European men’s salon, offering cuts, shaves, and nail and skin care. Draped in dark woods, handsome leather chairs and ornate golden mirrors, this opulent barber shop is based loosely on a scene from “Peter Pan” in which Mr. Smee shaves (what he thinks is) Captain Hook. As such, little touches like an inlaid wooden map of Never Land and an iconic hook can also be found. And no pirate’s shave is complete without a libation from a hidden bar, located within the shop. Featuring a treasure trove of pre-Prohibition bourbons, vintage whisky and port, aged rum and premium spirits, this will be a unique way to end a haircut or shave.

keg-and-compass

No Disney Cruise Line ship is complete without a classic pub and the Disney Wish is no exception. Keg & Compass pub celebrates the adventure and romance of the sea, designed in the rustic architectural style of a late 1800s Norwegian sailor’s map room and drawing inspiration from the rich folklore of Norse seafaring. With a Disney-centric map along the ceiling and brass portholes along the wall, this is definitely a nautical pub. And as in any good pub, the selection of beers will be plentiful and include three custom craft beers only available aboard the Disney Wish.

Nightingale’s piano bar features a selection of wines and handcrafted cocktails. As the Disney Wish features Cinderella prominently in her design, Nightingale’s is a specific reference to the song “Sing Sweet Nightingale” which Cinderella performed more beautifully than her step sister while scrubbing the floors of the house. The chandelier over the piano pays homage to that sequence from the film with a swirl of pearlescent bubbles and music notes displaying the song’s melody meticulously crafted out of shimmering rose gold. This is a thematic extension of the Grand Hall, from which guests will enter the bar.

The last newly-announced lounge from today’s video is The Bayou. This informal lounge is themed to “The Princess and the Frog,” and features creative cocktails, specialty coffees and signature beignets. Fireflies sparkle in the foliage-covered ceiling as guests enjoy live music, signature beignets and sip on creative cocktails or specialty coffees.

The video also gives a deeper look at the “Beauty and the Beast” themed restaurant complex and the “Star Wars” themed Hyperspace Lounge, already announced.

  1. Okay so all these special places for adults are about spending extra money: drinks, spa and salon services and upcharge restaurants. What I loved on Dream and Fantasy were the interactive paintings and the detective games, the ship map game which were fun for me as an adult and for kids too. Where are those things on this ship?
