BREAKING: Undisclosed Number of Layoffs Reported at Universal Orlando Resort

Devastating news continues to come from the theme park industry as even more layoffs have been reported at Universal Orlando Resort. An undisclosed number of employees have been laid off across the property. These layoffs do not include hourly workers.

Universal Orlando issued a statement on the layoffs to reporter Ashley Carter of Spectrum News 13:

We continue to be aware of the impact this will have on those affected by this action and we are working to support them through this process.

According to Team Members, those affected by the layoffs include managers at attractions, with only two managers now overseeing each attraction, down from three.

News of the mass layoffs comes just weeks after Universal Orlando Resort filed a mass layoff warning with the State of Florida indicating that 5,389 employees will remain on furlough indefinitely. Universal Orlando Resort’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources Scot LaFerte stated that he did not expect the furloughs to be permanent, but a full recovery may not be possible until well into 2021.
