In the words of Lieutenant Bek, “This does not look good.”
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance has been the subject of many headlines lately, but unfortunately, the ambitious attraction has suffered for a number of flaws, from the burdensome nature of Boarding Groups to recent mounting malfunctions and maintenance issues. During today’s WDWNT daily livestream at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we saw the ride in the worst shape it’s ever been:
In the video, you can see where the screens in which Stormtroopers appear and shoot at you in your R5 transport unit are completely blank. Along the ceiling, blast effects still go off, despite no one visibly shooting at you in the scene. Once you transition to the AT-AT room, the screen cockpits inside are also fully blank. Moving through scenes past there, the audio abruptly cuts out in several rooms, leaving you in either sudden silence or with missing music segments or character dialogue, like the instructions from Lieutenant Bek.
To complete the full round of issues, Kylo Ren is still in B-Mode after several days of issues. In B-Mode, guests do not get to see the Kylo Ren audio-animatronic, but instead view a screen depicting a TIE Fighter attack scene taking place through the windows. Kylo then makes an appearance on the screen aboard his own TIE variant, threatening riders of their imminent demise… before ultimately getting thwarted in a similar fashion.
Given the hurdles guests must overcome in order to ride the park’s newest and most popular attraction, it’s disappointing to say the least, especially for those whose experience is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, or their first experience on Rise of the Resistance or inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
With reservations for Disney’s Hollywood Studios regularly unavailable for Annual Passholders and even Disney Resort hotel guests and guests with separate tickets on occasion, it’s a hot commodity that merits, well, fully-functioning attractions for those who either take the time to stake out a Disney Park Pass reservation ahead of time, or invest money on tickets or hotel bookings.
Have you experienced numerous show scene issues or problems overall with Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance? Has it impacted your enjoyment of the attraction, or made you think twice about booking another Disney’s Hollywood Studios reservation for the sake of riding it? Let us know in the comments!
I’ve been to the one in Disneyland multiple times and aside from daily breakdowns before boarding, it’s been fine. Maybe because they fixed issues they learned from WDW? That sucks for people who can’t go to both
Given how many moving parts this ride has, the glitches happening are very minor to the overall ride experience.
Nothing worked…
It literally got hit by lightening
As an experienced Resistance Fighter, I can understand your disappointment when effects do not work.
That being said, which would be a worse experience for a guest that has a reservation for 1 day at DHS and then discovering the ride they chose DHS for can not go back tomorrow or park hop to try and ride again
At the same time, a diminished experience is just as bad. Show quality is something Disney created, they have to live by their own standards.
I’m an old guy been going to Disney since 1975 Drove 2 hours yesterday after getting a AP reservation in July for HS. Mainly to ride Rise. Have never been able to get on Tried to get a boarding group exactly at 10am. Gone! A customer service rep felt sorry for me and got me in group 46. Very nice of her however turns out that would be 3 pm ish, maybe. I physically couldn’t hang around till that time so I left at 1:30. I’ll try again sometime later as soon as I figure out that reservation system.
