Orange County officials stated earlier this week that the decision to possibly postpone the reopening is completely up to Walt Disney World, and the state government. In a recent statement to 10 Tampa Bay, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated that there are no plans to stop any approved reopenings:
“We are monitoring all aspects related to COVID-19 in Florida and do not have plans to roll back any approved reopening business plans at this time.”
Given that their plans have already been approved, it’s unlikely that Disney will backtrack on their big reopening announcements. Earlier this week, Disneyland Resort revealed that due to state restrictions, it would be postponing the reopening of its theme parks and resorts to an undisclosed date. In a statement to the Orlando Sentinel, Walt Disney World indicated that their reopening is still planned to go on schedule with no changes.
 Just this week, the resort launched its new Disney Park Pass system, allowing guests with confirmed Disney Resort hotel bookings, and now Annual Passholders, to make theme park reservations for as early as July 11 for the reopening of Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are slated to reopen on July 15. Previews for affinity groups are scheduled to take place prior to the July 11 reopenings.
Existing ticket holders will be able to start making theme park reservations on June 28. Reservations are going quickly for the remainder of the summer season, with July already fully booked for Annual Passholders.

Fantastic news!! It’s time to bring the magic back. Plus, could you imagine the disaster of all the people who spent hours online trying to get park reservations and hours more on the phone toosify resort reservations had to do it all again? I’m pretty sure those phone lines have had a busy signal for most callers since Monday
Hello and good day! I think it’s a mistake for WDW to reopen during a surge in coronavirus infections! For the health and safety of guests, cast members and the general FL public, the reopening should be delayed. Thank you. Stay safe and healthy!
My health is more important than spending time at Disney. Would prefer to wait so I can continue going for years to come. Short term pain for long term gain.
