“Tangled Round Ride”, Expanded Disney Village, Reimagined Walt Disney Studios Park and All the Pieces of “Project Firefly” for Disneyland Paris

We’re in the midst of this year’s D23 Expo, so there’s tons of news circulating and still to be announced.

So far, we’ve heard mostly about developments across domestic parks, but there is still plenty in the works for international Disney parks, and in this piece, we’ll be hashing out some of the additions and improvements coming to Disneyland Paris Resort as part of a long timeline of projects the company has grouped under “Project Firefly”.

First off is the Disney Village, which is getting a complete refurbishment by way of an extensive renovation and expansion plan. The entire shopping, dining, and entertainment complex will be undergoing a full-on redesign as part of the expansion in hopes of improving on overall guest experience as well as creating newer, more coherent shopping opportunities within the region. The Disney Village lake will also reportedly be filled in at some point to add more capacity for restaurants and shops.

In 2021, we’ll have the opening of the long-awaited “Avengers Campus”, which we found out more about this past weekend.

2023 will see the expansion of Walt Disney Studios Park continue, with a 3-hectare lake is set to become the new leisure hub of the park. It will be fitted with the latest technologies to provide water-based spectacles, complete with fountains, music and lights, and special effects for a brand-new lake show.

An area inspired by the beloved animated feature Frozen will become the beacon of the park’s extension, with a re-creation of the famous port of Arendelle at the base of a 40 meter-high mountain. The popular Frozen Ever After ride from Epcot is expected to be built here in some way, shape, or form.

Even Rapunzel is getting in on the action with her very own spinner ride, relayed to us by sources as the “Tangled Round Ride”.

These areas and the lagoon will mark the official publicized relaunch of the park in 2023.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.

In 2025, fans of Star Wars will get to live their own adventure in an area dedicated to a galaxy far, far away. The Star Wars land planned for Disneyland Paris will be “a complete experience featuring not only a major attraction, but a dining location, shops and character encounter opportunities”. In other words, it won’t be the full Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge that has been constructed at the U.S. Disney Parks.

On top of all of this, we still also expect the announcement of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway for the Fantasyland section of Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris in the not-too-distant future.

  1. Sooo much needed!! Disney Village isn’t appealing at all right now. I love the concept of the WDSP expansion, but is is quite frustrating the 2025 finishing date…
