Europe’s Largest Tour Operator Cancels All Florida Vacation Packages Until December Due to Impact of New Health & Safety Measures at Walt Disney World

It has been reported by ABC News that the UK travel giant TUI has cancelled all package holidays to Florida until December 2020.

According to Metro, the tour operator said in a statement that ‘the decision has been made following new health and safety measures implemented at Walt Disney World to ensure the safety of its guests. ‘These changes would significantly impact the holiday experience for many TUI customers who plan their magical and often once in a lifetime Florida holiday’.

This, of course, comes as Walt Disney World has been steadily releasing post-COVID-19 Health and Safety protocols for the parks, ahead of their reopening beginning on July 11th. One of these protocols which strikes controversy is the mandatory face covering rule, a requirement which is still optional within the UK. This, alongside temperature screenings, the Park Pass reservation policy and limited entertainment schedule is bound to at least slightly impact the enjoyment of any Disney vacation.

So, TUI has therefore taken the difficult decision travellers are facing about whether or not to cancel their holidays, and made it for them. The company has stated that it “commits to only operating holidays where it’s able to guarantee an enjoyable, relaxing and safe holiday without significant changes at their destination.”

It is worth noting that competitor airline and tour operator Virgin Atlantic has already said that they will be resuming flights to Orlando from London Heathrow from July, and other tour operators in the UK have yet to comment.

TUI customers are being offered a full refund on these cancellations, or the option to modify their travel date or destination.

Have your travel plans been impacted by this update? Would you feel safe travelling to Walt Disney World from your country following the COVID-19 pandemic this year?

  1. It pains me to say it but there is absolutely zero chance we would travel to FL this year.

We’ve moved our July trip to July 2021 and will assess that nearer the time

  2. yes it’s becoming extremely difficult travelling to the US out of europe. We were supposed to travel out of Belgium but now even Delta cancelled our flights on aug 8 without any warning. Seems a no go for us too. Everything is so unclear and messed up with no good information and restrictions!

  3. Virgin Atlantic will now start their flights, travel bans permitting, from both London Heathrow and Manchester, UK, from August 24. This change was announced last week.

  4. No Problem. With recent pictures of Briton’s crowding the beaches, let’s limit everyone’s exposure. It’s bad enough the US is experiencing skyrocketing new cases with people not adhering to common sense.

  5. I can understand this. I am a massive WDW fan and can’t wait to head back. But until things are back to relative normality (no face masks being the biggest), then I will not be heading to Orlando. I sincerely hope next year we see the WDW resort we’re all used to.
