Grab your monocle and your top hat, we’re going to where pork is king. But we’re not going for BBQ, we’re going for a little something that’s not even on the menu yet, although with the heft of this treat, we can hardly call it “little.”
Meet the Bourbon Chocolate Chip Cookie, which today was topped with chocolate rocks and sea salt, although we believe its previous incarnations were not. This thick cookie is packed full of big chocolate chunks—no one was skimping on the helpings over here! The cookie is available for $5.
The dough itself was very tasty, well-balanced with the right level of salt. The bourbon flavor was very faint, which was a little disappointing. We were actually worried that it would be too overpowering, but instead we found ourselves wishing for a stronger flavor to balance the chocolate.
The chocolate rocks on the top were a nice visual touch, but didn’t add anything other than more chocolate flavor. Any candy coating flavor was lost in the richness of the cookie. The salt on top was the perfect balance to the decadent flavors of classic chocolate chip cookie going on here.
Not all reviews are positive, sadly, and unfortunately we have to mention what you may have already noticed from these photos: the cookie we received was significantly undercooked. The center of the cookie was still very doughy, and while we do love a good cookie dough, we were looking forward to a baked cookie in this instance. We did bring it up to a manager and he very quickly assured us he would speak with the Chef right away. This is a very new menu item for the Polite Pig, so much so that it isn’t on any of their menus, even the digital ones, so we understand that they may still be working out some of the kinks. With as tasty as this cookie was, we wouldn’t let this setback deter you from trying one. We believe they’ll have this solved in no time!
Overall, we really enjoyed this rich chocolately treat, and think it will pair very well with the first-class BBQ available at the Polite Pig. Will this be on your must-try list the next time you visit Disney Springs? Let us know in the comments!
Thanks for the honest review. Good supportive comments. I look forward to trying this cookie.
