Fireworks Removed From My Disney Experience App Splash Screen Ahead of Reopening at Walt Disney World

While it’s been announced that fireworks will be temporarily suspended at the theme parks in Walt Disney World Resort once they begin to reopen next month, to maintain social distancing, it seems that My Disney Experience has also decided to remove the fireworks from their opening app splash screen.

Thanks to Twitter user @ScottGustin, we can view a side by side video of the new splash screen against the old one.

On the left video, we watch as the text and castle fade away into the background, and fireworks begin to burst, eventually turning into a Hidden Mickey before we enter the Home page of the app. The right side, the updated video, has the text and castle fade away as the Home page loads.

Personally, I think it’s sad to watch these fireworks be removed the app. What do you think? Drop us a comment below!

Growing up a native Floridian, I've been visiting the parks since I was three months old. I love all things Winnie the Pooh, Hidden Mickey hunting, and dole whips. Questions or comments? Email me at alicia@wdwnt.com or find me on Instagram @aliciaj_13

  1. leave the firework app alone. are the fireworks going to be gone for good. stop charging things

I do not beleave it is temporary since Disney sold off the Epcot fireworks barges at Richie Bros Auctions earlier this month…. and since they also probably imported the fireworks from China.

  3. It makes me wonder how temporary it is to suspend fireworks. If it’s for a couple weeks, it seems an overreaction to remove them from the app screen. I hope it’s not months-long. I really think Disney could manage where to have people go to watch. They’ve always told me they’re viewable from many areas in the park. I will be really disappointed if they’re not part of the Halloween party… Have tickets for end of August.

  4. Disappointed that the fireworks were removed from the app. Doesn’t give all the feels that it used to. Super sad.

  5. I agree, it is sad. They should have kept the fireworks burst as a reminder that they would be back. This way it’s a reminder of how much is missing currently.

  6. Just another sign of everything that will be unavailable, while charging full price. Just stay closed until the parks can open with the full experience.
