We are still 12 days away from Universal Orlando Resort’s official reopening on June 5, 2020, but there are already signs of how the park will be handling the social distancing orders.

It was announced that proper distancing will be implemented for queues, and markers are already in place at the turnstiles at both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

Barriers have also been put up at alternating ticket windows at Islands of Adventure and floor markers have been installed at the ticketing area.

As we reported on Thursday, Universal Orlando Resort will provide one free disposable face covering to guests who did not bring their own, and reusable face masks will be available for sale. Play areas will remain closed, and 3D glasses will be handed out individually. Water mists will also be reduction or eliminated throughout the parks.

All of the dining location menus will be converted to single-use with individually packaged condiments and pre-wrapped silverware. No buffets or self-serve options in restaurants will be available. Mobile ordering and contactless payments will be available and encouraged.

Are you planning on visiting Universal Orlando Resort on its reopening day?

  1. I haven’t been to Universal in about 20 years or so, so I don’t know how the queues are usually set up. But there’s no way quite a lot of popular rides can possibly enforce social distancing unless they only allow one party at a time. Rides like Haunted Mansion, Dinosaur, Flight of Passage, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway all have giant hubs for pre-shows where everyone tramples everyone else to form another single-file line…and then there are rides like Soarin’, Rise of the Resistance, and Mission Space which do similar things. So unless they disable the pre-show and just move us straight into the ride (which, for FoP, would be welcomed), there’s no way this can work well.

  2. No. Just no. Not going to play that game. If they want my business, they’ll have to come to their senses and drop this whole mask theater.

  3. We have a hotel reservation June 10th for 2 days at aventura so we will see if it is open and how the parks are. Looking forward to it.

  4. No water misters and wearing mask……hope staff are trained in how to spot early signs of heat illness!
