Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic Scores For “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker” Point To A Potential Problem

The embargo for critics to release their review of “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker” was lifted today, and it looks like it might not be smooth sailing for the last film in the Star Wars saga.

Star Wars Rise

Currently, “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker” has a 57% on Rotten Tomatoes with an average review score of 6.35/10 from 151 critics. 86 critics rated the movie fresh, while 65 rated it rotten.

As for the other movies in this current Star Wars trilogy, this is by far the worst rating that a movie has received over at Rotten Tomatoes. “The Force Awakens” received an 93% and “The Last Jedi” received a 91%.

Even the Star Wars spin-offs fared much better than “The Rise Of Skywalker” with “Solo: A Star Wars Story” receiving a 70% and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” receiving an 83%.

“The Rise Of Skywalker” only beat out two other movies in the Star Wars saga. “The Phantom Menace” received a 53% and the animated movie “Clone Wars” received an 18%.

Over at Metacritc, things weren’t any better. In fact, they were worse. “The Rise Of Skywalker” is currently sitting on an average of 5.4/10 based on 48 critics’ reviews.

Keep in mind, that for the most part, critics and fans do not always agree. If anything, these scores just help fans to go in to the film with low expectations and hopefully they will be pleasantly surprised.

  1. I really didn’t have high hopes for this movie after the last one, but I already bought my ticket so I guess I’m going to see it anyways.

  2. These same critics opened Dave Chappell’s newest stand up terrible and fans loved it. Rise of Skywalker will be great and we all know.. even if it’s not Rise of the Resistance and fucking awesome so who cares.

  3. We are also currently in a time where everyone complains about everything…so I’ll take those reviews with a grain of salt.

  4. Well, the fact that critics rated The Last Jedi at a ridiculous 91% shows how much weight I would put into these ratings.
