PHOTOS: Self-Service Registers Coming March 2020 to Pan Galactic Pizza Port at Tokyo Disneyland

One of our favorite restaurants at any Disney park is Tokyo Disneyland’s Pan Galactic Pizza Port. Not because of the food, but because our dear friend Tony Solaroni is the proprietor, delivering delicious pizzas in less than a Saturn day! But seriously, the animatronics show here is lovely. We’re actually working on a video of the full half-hour show! But he’s on a bit of a break right now through March 9th, perhaps taking a business trip. And while we’ve checked in on the scrims of Pan Galactic, we haven’t been entirely sure what’s going on during this 5-month renovation. Until today, that is!

Back in May, these self-service machines were tested at Pan Galactic. At the time, they only accepted cash. But the test seemed successful. Now, the plan is to introduce these to every payment station except one during this renovation. Now, you will select your own items (similar to at US McDonald’s stores), pay, and bring your ticket up to the kitchen.

I would imagine that these kiosks will include English order options and a credit card payment option. According to Twitter user @MarcSasaki, the Pan Galactic Pizza Port installation is a first phase. Ideally, this system will be rolled out to other Tokyo Disney Resort restaurants when the kinks are ironed out.

As Japan’s population declines, automated solutions throughout the country are increasing. We’ve already seen this at TDR with ticket vending machines at Tokyo Disneyland’s new entrance. While it is disappointing that face-to-face Cast interactions will decrease, these are the realities we face. I wonder if La Taverne de Gaston and LeFou’s will have these self-service kiosks? We’ll keep you posted as the kiosk story develops.

Oh and in case you’re wondering, Sasaki also confirmed Solaroni’s return in March. Thank goodness! I can’t go back to the days when it took 20 mega-omega years to get my pizza!
