REVIEW: New Sparkling Mango & Citrus Tapioca Tea at Tomorrowland Terrace in Tokyo Disneyland

Tokyo Disney Resort is famous for introducing new food and drink offerings pretty often. Usually these come with new events and promotions, or restaurant refurbishments. But about three weeks ago, a new drink popped up on the Tomorrowland Terrace menu unannounced! For those not in the know, Japan is going through a bit of a bubble/tapioca tea craze right now, and Tokyo Disney Resort wants to keep with the trends! There are no less than six bubble tea offerings across the resort, including this unannounced (but very welcome) guest! So, let’s take a look at the “secret” Sparkling Mango & Citrus Tapioca Tea!

Mango & Citrus Sparkling Tapioca Tea – Â¥600 ($5.64)

I have a theory (purely speculation, of course) that the limited availability window and unannounced arrival means that this is a test run by the Oriental Land Company to see if this drink should be a permanent or future seasonal offering. This drink is available at Tomorrowland Terrace in Tokyo Disneyland from 2:00PM-5:00PM every day through September 1st.

The presentation here is excellent! Every cup gets a cute Mickey sticker on it, the colors are very pleasing, and there’s not too much ice or tapioca pearls. This drink is very Instagram-worthy, for sure. Grapefruit jelly chunks and extra tapioca pearls top the drink. Additionally, the drink itself is fairly sizeable. It definitely makes good company on a humid Tokyo day!

The drink is made from Sprite, mango and sugary tea syrups, and mango boba, along with those grapefruit jelly chunks. As you can see in the first picture, the drink comes rather separated, to its disadvantage. It doesn’t taste right in the state they hand it off to you in. The sugary tea syrup settles on the bottom and the mango tea and Sprite in the middle tastes a bit off. It still produces an interesting tropical flavor, but not really hitting the mark.

If you mix them together, on the other hand, the drink becomes exactly as it is described, and the overwhelming flavors come together perfectly. A few swirls of the cup or straw, and you have a delicious sparkling mango and citrus tapioca tea. I absolutely recommend this if you’re looking for a fruity drink to beat the heat! If you’re not a mango person though, stay away.
