PHOTOS: Final Phase of Lobby Floor Replacement Project Now Underway at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Work began back at the end of April to replace the aging, “pixelated”-style floor in the lobby of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The project has been progressing in phases throughout the summer, and it looks like they’re right on track for their early September completion goal! The renovation comes ahead of the opening of Disney Skyliner, which will have a station servicing both Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and nearby Disney’s Pop Century Resort, located on Hourglass Lake.

The majority of the floor has been replaced already. The old, grimy-looking tile has been replaced with a sleek, slightly sparkly flooring.

The remaining work is happening on the far side of the lobby, near the restrooms and The Ink and Paint Shop.

The restrooms and Pixel Play Arcade are still open and accessible.

The last uncovered bit of old flooring is near the side entrance, under the story board wall.

You can tell the floor was really in need of some love. I’m sure the new flooring is easier to keep clean, as well.

If you’re staying at the Art of Animation Resort in the next couple weeks, the continuing work doesn’t really get in the way. They’re aiming to have the entire project completed by September 7th.
