Former Grand Floridian Society Orchestra Bandleader Pat Doyle Has Passed Away

Pat Doyle, the former bandleader and drummer of The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra, has passed away, according to the band’s Facebook page. Doyle passed away on Sunday, August 18th.

Doyle was a musician who worked at the Walt Disney World Resort since its opening day on October 1st, 1971. Doyle played with the Orchestra until his semi-retirement in July 2016. He also played with the Fife and Drum Corps Group in Liberty Square at the Magic Kingdom. Since then, Doyle had performed two days a week with the ensemble.

Until earlier this year, the Orchestra could be heard at Mizner’s Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The band has since been temporarily relocated to the lower level of the resort’s lobby as a new Beauty and the Beast-themed bar and lounge is being constructed.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Letitia, and the rest of his family. No cause of death was revealed.

  1. We loved Pat and enjoyed catching up with him at Mizner’s. He was great to be around and he knew how to make us feel at home. He’ll be missed is an understatement.

  2. Pat was the best. We always enjoyed catching up with him at Mizner’s. He really made us feel at home and it was obvious how much he loved his work and the people in his life. He was a treasure for sure.
